Orr, 24 years old, well dressed dress-ed and of more than ordinary intelligence, intel-ligence, frankly confessed In municl pal court this morning that he had stolen auto accessories from the Smith Auto Tire repair shop on Wash, ington avenue, where he has been employed since the first of the year. He ovas fined $50 or the alternative of 50 days in jail.. Orr's oandor astonished tho court, city attorney and spectators. He did not hesitate In admitting that he had solen air gauges, valves and other articles ar-ticles amounting to approximately $35 that he had sold a portion of his loot and had the remainder stored away. He also confessed that he had been arrested in Stockton and Oakland; and otherwise displayed a candor rel atlve to an unsavory record that was startling. Sergt. Jerry Kelliher, who arrested Orr, explained to the court that tho prisoner also was guilty of Ingratitude. Ingrati-tude. He stated that his employers had "stood good and lost" on Orr's room rent, his board and a Buit of clothes. Orr, the Sergeant said, had repaid a portion of the money advanced ad-vanced for the clothes. He came here December 28. |
