"We were on the water ten days and I enjoyed all but two of them. "How ard you all by now? I was quite worried when I heard mother was sick, but hope sho has recovered. "Fred Berlin is going to writo James G. McKay and perhaps he will come down and see us. "Wo can't tell our loved ones all that we would like to, but everything is going to be all right and wo expect to be home for next Christmas. "I have often thought lately of how thankful we should be when we are at home and have everything our hearts could desire at Christmas. "I would give anything to spend another an-other Christmas like we used to, with a big supper, a tree and all of us together to-gether in our beautiful home. It's a comfort, however, in knowing there are better times coming. "Thank you all for writing so often and for the things you sent me. "Tell all my friends I wish them a happy and prosperous New Year. "So long for this time, and God bless you all. Your son and brother, "LEO. W. JOHANSEN, "Supply Co., l3rd Infantrv, 41st Div., A. E.
