Show BOYS AND GIRLS OF THE CODIY ARE TO AID UNCLE SAM Enthusiasm peculiar to youth and a desire to aid Uncle Sam during his big fight is arousing the boys and girls of Weber county to manly efforts to aid the food production and help the government gov-ernment according to A. I. Tippets, county leader of boys' and girls' clubs. There arc now about S00 members of these clubs and clubs have been organized or-ganized in every county town except West Weber and Warren. Mr. Tippets Tip-pets went to those places this afternoon after-noon to aid the boys and girls in organizing or-ganizing branches so by evening there will be clubs in every Weber county town. Each club is organized with a president pres-ident or major committeeman, a secretary sec-retary and treasurer and members. The office of president is held by both a boy and girl, the secretary-treasurer's position by either a boy or girl. Meetings are held once a month In the' schoolhouscs or at a member's home. Tho clubs have to show a record of work for each season. For instance, a boy or girl takes a small garden plot, or a pig or calf as a particular project for the'year and keeps a careful record of profit and loss. The girls especially espe-cially consider sowing and cooking as their particular work. That tho clubs will start with a firm foundation of patriotism is evidenced by their recent adoption of another verse for "America," which will bo sung by the clubs at all their gatherings, gather-ings, It is as follows. "God save our noblo men, Send them safe home ngain, God save our men. Keep them victorious, Patient and chivalrous; They are so dear to us. God save our men. oo |
