Show BOYS EN ROUTE HOME1 ENJOY SHORT STAY IN OGDEN The canteen at the station this morning was the happiest place in Ogden, from the cordial smiling greetings greet-ings on the faces of Mrs Mcintosh, and Mrs. Wherry who were in charge, to the sublime look of extreme joy on the faces of the men who entered the canteen. And the reason well, sixteen of them were going home for good, were going to see their wives, their mothers, moth-ers, their fathers, their sweethearts, and all, and best of all they were going go-ing to stay home. Wasn't that reason I enough to be happy and to make all others who came in contact with them happy for them? Most of these men were discharged from camps in the south, Camp Mcadc and Camp Lee, in particular and the.v were going to their homes in California. Mlnco pies and coffee were handed out to them by the workers, and these workers were obliged to step pretty lively to keep up with the rapidly oncoming on-coming appetites of those fellows who were getting their first taste of what was to follow, when they arrived homo for the Thanksgiving dinner with the folks tomorrow. Cards, cigarettes, everything was given propertly, as a sort of farewell party to them by the canteen, and tho men's sincere thanks, and their hearty handshakes were all that was necessary .to show what the canteen had meant to them, these men who were going home for good. j |
