Show FLOYD G, I0LL0W SERB INTEREST! LETTER TO FOLKS FLOYD C. ROLLOW. From Floyd C Rollow son of Mr ami Mrs. L. E. Rolhpw of 1752 Pacific avenue comes an "interesting letter. Floyd Rollow is a member of Battery A. 13th Field Artillery and is with the American Expeditionary forces in France. He is also the nephew of A. J. Rollow of this city. His letter follows: August. 191S. A. E. F. Dearest Mother, Father and Sister: This leaves me in the best of health and the highest of spirits. I am in a rest camp now; but wish I was back on the firing line again. It's so lonesome back here after being under shell fire so long. I like it in action much better then nwriv frnm it Ortninlv fin like to see the big shells go over after the Bochcs. I was on the guns all the time and they are surely fine ones. Oh! this is the life over here and I like it fine. j I am on driving now and Bill is I driving the wheel team while I am in front of him driving the wheel swing team. We are together all the tinfe. We use our horse blankets for a bed. They make a fine bed. Gee! but we can sleep on cactus now and think It a millionaire's bed. It's ' making real men of us. We have lots of fun and sen sights that are. worth all the world to us. We will have a lot to tell you whon we get the Germans licked and got back home again. I like France. It is a beautiful country and I have seen lots of It since I came over. When I get back I will tie a first class hobo, for I have traveled Franco all over in a box car. Bill and 1 had a car of horses the last big move we made and we got along great. I have a dandy team of sorrels weighing about 2S00 pounds, true and good as U. S. gold. i I cannoniered when I first came jback but the noise of our pieces hurt I my ears so I had to quit. We have larger howitzers than we had in the ! states. j The Fourth division won a medal for bravery and discipline. We won honors hon-ors under heavy battle. The 13th Field Artillery was presented pre-sented with a gold star for our extra ex-tra good conduct, bravery and discipline. disci-pline. 1 cannot tell you of It now or of our casualties. Our gold star will mean much to our regiment some da. I told you when In the states that we had a good division, now you know it. General Pershing is our most brave and true American leader. Leave it to him, he is sure capable of his position. posi-tion. Gee1 but I was glad to get back to the old 13th again, to see all tho boys. It was like going back home to me. I found them all 0. K. I have only received one letter from you since I left the states. Also got a letter from Ed Prosser and Nick ,Janeu. an old friend of mine wc left at j Camp Greene. 1 Lee is at El Paso in the cavalry and j Ed is getting ready to leave.
