Tomorrow will see the first official call for track and baseball men at the Brlgham Young college and from the present outlook the Logan "Y" should turn out a fairly fast cinder squad, but the baseball prospect Is not so bright and up to date Coach Knapp has not mentioned the diamond sport, although he will Kir" go to work on his nine with the same activity as has characterized his work Ip every branch of athletics. The old tracksters who were out limbering lim-bering up last week were Edwards, hurdles and broad jump; Dunn, weights and hurdles; Knowles, Nielson and Hughs sprints; Haws, pole vault; Home and Jacques, mllo and half mile. The new men who reported are Nee-ley, Nee-ley, Allen, McBride, Jeppson and Barlow. Bar-low. The work of Neeley, Allen and McBride will be watched with particular particu-lar interest, as these three men are expected ex-pected to phow up strong. Neeley played on the "Y" basketball team this winter and was pronounced to be one of the fastest hoopsters ever seen in action In Logan His admirers say ho can step a hundred in close to 10 flat. Allen took second in the cross-country last year and says he will be in prime shape for the distance runs when the state meets roll around. McBride set up a good record while in high school in the short distance races and the coach looks for a good showing from him in college. |
