Thy radiant star of life is set. We grope in darkness here, Our spirits lone and longing, For thy happy words of cheer. Dear Lord, we need his happy smile, 'Tis hard to bear the pain. Whv must we drink this bitter cup? Why see him ne'er again? Ne'er see him? Blot those cruel words! His soul so bright and pure, Has risen to a holier sphere, In God, his life is sure. He lives in treasured memory, In all our aching hearts; He lives, immortalized in love. He never can depart His radiant, hopeful, sunny smile, Could not be dimmed by death. No pain could check his cheery words, E'en to his latest breath. Dear Milton, God has called thee home, Yet still thou lingerest near, A b tarry soul, to lead us on To God, whom thou art near. In blossoms pure we lay thee now Our boy, so bright, so blest; Sweet dreams be thine; the morn will come; Just sleep, dear heart, and rest. With tenderest love, UNCLE HOWARD. |
