Show SECOND OFFICERS' TRAINING CAMP WASHINGTON, July 23. A complete com-plete revision in tho plans for locations loca-tions of the second officers' training camps to open August 27 has been decided de-cided on by the war department as a result of a re-inspection of the sites previously chosen. Under tho new arrangement there will be nine camps instead of eight, Fort McPhorson, Georgia; Fort Logan H. Roots, Arkansas, and Fort Riley, Kansas, being dropped from the list and Plattsburg barracks, New York, Fort Niagara, New York, Fort Snell-ing, Snell-ing, Minn., and Fort Sheridan, Illinois, ; added. Tho Fort Myer, Virginia; Fort Oglethorpe, Ogle-thorpe, Georgia; Fort Benjamin Harrison, Harri-son, Indiana; Presidio, San Francisco, and Leon Springs, Texas, designations remain unchanged, but a re-assignment of state personnel among the various va-rious camps has been ordered. ."Some of the locations originally ordered or-dered are objectionable for various reasons," said a report on tho subject transmitted to Secretary Baker by Adjutant Ad-jutant General McCain. Some camps are said to bo overcrowded and to lack facilities for training camp work. The assignment of western stato quotas under tho new plan follows: At Fort Sheridan Michigan, Wisconsin Wis-consin and Illinois. At Leon Springs Mlsslsippi, Arkansas, Arkan-sas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona. At Fort Snelling Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Nebras-ka, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. At tho Presidio Montana, Wyoming, Wyom-ing, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Ne-vada, Utah and California. |
