While not on a scale as elab orate as former years, the programs I fittingly express the attitude of the people. Due to the war conditions, much solemnity and patriotism marks the general strain to be found in the committees' choice of subjects and themes for their different programs. In Ogden, the principal program will ! be held at Glenwood park, under the uaspices of the Daughters of the Pioneers, Pi-oneers, and "will be as follows: Opening number Ladies' band, E. W. Nichols, director. Duet Miss Annie Williamson, Douglas Doug-las Brian. "Address Prof. Levi Edgar Young. Song Miss Mildred Ware. Reading Miss Lila Eccles. Song Robert Greenwell. Remarks by visitors. Closing number "America" by audience audi-ence and Ladles' band. Prayer, i Lunch will be served at 3:30, at which toasts will be given by some of the Pioneers and invited guests. Sam- uel G. Dye will act as toastmaster. Dancing from 5 to 7. Music by Lillian Lil-lian Thatcher orchestra. Prominent among the speakers and the out-of-town guests or honor will Governor Simon Bamberger, President Presi-dent Joseph F. Smith, Anton H. Lund, Charles Penrose, Elizabeth Hayward, Levi Edgar Young, Emmeline B. Wells, Harden Bennion, secretary of state of Salt Lake; Ogden guests will be Hon. : Fred J. Kiesel, Rev. J. E. The program for the Pioneer celebration cele-bration at Liberty park follows: ; At 10:30 o'clock in the morning a . Pioneer day program will be carried out, with Hon. Charles R. Mabey as orator. The program will begin with the singing of "America" and an invocation. in-vocation. The Minnie Hutchison quartette quar-tette will render a selection, which will be followed by a solo by Mildred $fi Ware. The Ninth ward male quar- l g tette and a double quartette will also assist in the program, and there will be other musical numbers. ; From 12 to 1 o'clock luncheon will . be served in the park, and from 1 to I 2 o'clock there will be races, a chil- 1 dren's circus parade, greased pig con- r test and other sports. From 3 to 5 o'clock there is to be i a ball game, and from 5 to 6 a ten- , nis contest. From 6:30 to 7:3.0 o'clock ; there will be a band concert, and at ; 7:30 o'clock a wrestling contest. |
