Miss Ostrlcho began appearing In moving pictures Just after sho left high sohool and whon sho was but 14 years old, and as that was four years ago it Is not necoHsary to tell her ago. This extromoly clever girl novor had any stago exporlonco before sho began her picture work. Sho started In as an extra and mado a success almost from tho first. Ono day sho and a lot of other high sohool girls went to a studio to seo how films woro made. Sho became Interested ln tho work and got a director to put her on as an extra with a lot moro of hor companions ln a scono that needed young misses to add to tho local color of tho play. Aftor this tho early interest grew to bo fascination and sho tried it again. By this timo tho art had such a hold on her that sho determined to get a regular place, If possl Her first contract was at the Eclair Studio 'H at Fort Leo, N. J. She played ingenue parts there for a long time and had many trying ex porlcnces that would havo discouraged many a fl les3 ambitious youngster. Onco sho had to en il ter a lion's cage and another timo sho had to tako a part whore sho was rescued from a laka vk that was twlco as deop as sho was talL She couldn't swim a stroke. Little things Hko this, IH however, never balk a gonlus. Sho kept on and H mado good. After a timo with tho Eolair firm sho went i over to the Thanhouser Studios at Ncvr Roch- IH ello, N. Y., whore she was Btarred in a num- ber of pictures under the Princess brand. Sho jH appeared in moro than a hundred of these pio-turcs pio-turcs and became known all over film circles ad tho Thanhouser princess. Miss Ostrlcho next played at the Vitagrapb. studios, appearing with Robert 'Edcson In IH Mortmain, Kennedy Square and other big pro- IH dilutions. Sho remained with tho Vltagraph IH company until she signed a contract with her present employers. .! Miss Ostrlcho has many successes to her i credit, among them A Daughter of the Sea, A f IH Circus Romauco and By Whoso Hand, In whloh she costarrcd with Edna Wallaco Hopper.
