Show AR80R DAY IT THE SACRED HEART ACADEMY In honor of Arbor day, the senior clashes of Sacred Heart were enter tained by the elocution class with i lyrical program. Miss Gunnip opened the program with a short, but Interesting, Inter-esting, talk on the lyric, its construction, construc-tion, literary merits, etc.. then to emphasize em-phasize her points delivered with much feeling and simplicity Van Dyke's "Snow Song" and Tennyson "Sweet and Low " Miss Rose Astil. the youngest member of the Hass, read the pretty Dutch lullaby. "Wyn ken. Blynken and Nod." by Eugene I Field. Miss Eileen McNulty rendered Poe's musical "Annabel Lee" in her rhannlne earnest way. Miss Thor-son's Thor-son's selection. "My Beason. ' by Em-aline Em-aline Miller, and Miss Standee -choice of "Eulalle" by Poe. were equally pleasing. "O. Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman', and "Life." by Edward Sill, were charmingly read bv Miss Campbell. Camp-bell. To Miss Humphrey fell the honor of rendering Wordsworth's fascinating fascinat-ing poem. "The Daffodils Mips Peck delivered with much enthusl -asm "Lochinvar." by Walter Scott. Miss Stoner delighted her audience with her natural rendltlorof the poem "My Love" and Tennyson's "Break. Break. Break." Van Dyke's "If All the Skies" and Poe's "Eldorado ' were poeth gems as read by Miss F. Spiers. Miss Hill's beautiful rendition of "The Japanese Lullaby, by Field, and "One. Two or Three." by Henry C. Bunner. was pleasinc to all. Inona Sterrett's artis-tlc artis-tlc readme of ' Little Boy Blue D Field, and "Spring Twilight" bj E ward R. Sill. waP wn received Miss deary's sympathetic interpretation interpre-tation of Tennyson's "Bugle Song' and the pleasing lyric, "Apple Blos-eom. Blos-eom. by Martin merited for her th presentation of a spray of "apple blos- soms ' from her admiring classmates. At the conclusion of the program, Sister Superior expressed her aatisfac tion with th work of the girl and complimented them upon their efforts. |
