In the neighborhood neigh-borhood of 900 tons of copper ore j have been sent from the Rocher de I Eouie Copper company's property, located lo-cated near Hafleton, l C . to the Granb snieltpr. according to a let ter received from l Williams, the superintendent in charge of the work at the property The ore will average about $50 to the ton. Ho also sa s in the letter that the aerial tramway the length of which Is about three and one-half miles, is working i" r fectly The mine is sending out between be-tween 100 and 120 tons of high-grade copper ore per day John F. Cowan Is president of the. company which Is at present controlled con-trolled by J. E. Oppenheimer of Butte, and Mr Cowan, who recently purchased the interest, formerly held by M s. Browning of Ogden. Thej holdings of the company cousist ot 200 acrea of patented ground Running In an easterly and westerly direction across the property are three velnB. and on one of these the greater portion of the work has been done Four ore shoots have been developed to a depth of 35f feet In ore that averages av-erages 12 per cent In copper to the ton, and according to the lotter from Superintendent Williams the development develop-ment work that has been in progress since April has opened up the ore bodies to greater extent than before The main vein haB been opeped up by a crosscut tuunol and a tunnel has elso been drtven on the vein These tunnels attain a depth of SoO feet from the surface. The ore shoots have been developed by driving along the vein for a distance of about five feet In width and are between 110 find 115 In length and extoud from the I tunnels to the surface. An aerial tramway, three and one-half one-half miles in length, connects with the Grand Trunk & Pacific railway li la hy use of this tramway that the ore is transported from the mine and dumped directly into the railroad cars The property is also equipped with i. hydro-electric plant nud also with a ten-drill Ingersoll-Rand compressor The storage bins at the mine have a capacity of 1,000 tons and bunker1!; have been built at Prince Rupert. |
