Show GAS CYLINDERS ARE SUNK IN TRENCHES London. April 30. 3:46 a. m Additional Addi-tional Information has been received by tho Times regarding the use by the Germans of asphyxiating gases It says the fumes are emitted from cylinders cyl-inders 54 inches long, sunk in the German trenches, and to which are connected pipes six feet long leading in the direction of tho allies' lines The Times asserts that the Germans Ger-mans were supplied with respirators, made of damp towels enclosed In bags of waterproof doth. In spite of these precautions, however, it Is believed thar a considerable number of men working the gas apparatus were asphyxiated when empty cylinders cylin-ders were sent back to the rear to be filled. oo |
