In the stable of Mr Winans there is a full brother to Sir Martin, the American-bred colt, which might have won the derby In 1909. the one that fell to the lato King Edward's Mlnoru, if Sir Martin ha1 not fallen at Taf te.nham Corner when he seemed to have a first-rate chance of getting homo In front. This colt is called Sir Ruppert. Apparently his chance of success Is not great, lor he stArt d twelve times last season without winning once. Winan I moet formidable candidate. Perhaps, Is Vanitle a son of Ogden and Fell, which John E Madden bred and sold to him last year. Vanttle won the Harvey two-year-old plate at Alexander park last September, but was unsuccessful In four other starts.
