Lower cable quotation were responsible for the weak opening, open-ing, but bearish sentiment could make ' no headway in the face of buying which developed on a large scale with j some of the biggest firms taking a conspicuous part. Argentine and Can- adian crop advances continued to be ' of a disappointing character. Opening prices, which ranged from lc declino to l-2c advance, with December at $1.65 to $1 66 3-4 and May at $1.67 1-4 to 1.67 5-8, were followed by small . downturns and then a sharp rise all around.
