Show CONTINUANCE II IE BECRAFT AND ' STONE CASE The preliminary hearing of the case of the State of Utah vs. Chester Be-craft Be-craft and Blaine Stone, was called this morning in the municipal court and, on motion of Attorney Valentine Gideon, was ordered continued until Wednesday, November 8th. The defendants de-fendants are charged with attempted rape and were taken into custody by Detective Captain Robert Burk on the evening of Sunday, October 8th. Be-craft Be-craft has been at liberty on a bond of ?1,000, but thus far Stone has been unable to furnish a bond. In asking for a 'continuance of the case, Attorney Gideon stated that he was only recently retained to act as counsel for Stone and that Becraft's lawyers, Joseph Chez and D. L. Stine, were engaged this morning in the district dis-trict court. County Attorney Joseph E. Evans raised no objection to the continuance. Following Judge Barker's order, Attorney At-torney Gideon made a request that the bond of his client be reduced. This was refused, the Judge sfating that in a case of the kind he did not feel Justified In changing his first decision as to the amount of the bond. |
