Show FREDERICK KORTH IS1 STICK By TIN AND DIES -Frederick Korth, a resident of Willard, Wil-lard, Boxelder county, died yesterday afternoon at the Dec hospital from injuries received late Saturday afternoon after-noon at the Oregon Short Line railroad rail-road crossing, at Harrisvllle. The vehicle ve-hicle in which he was riding was struck by a southbound Oregon Short Line train and Mr. Korth, who was 65 years of age, was thrown some distance, receiving fatal injuries. His horse escaped injury, but the vehicle in which he was riding was demolished. demol-ished. Mr. Korth had been In Ogden shopping shop-ping and was on hlsway home when the accident happened. The crossing at Harrisvllle Is double tracked and the "Wlllard man had driven across one set of tracks and then, evidently, became confused at the near approach of a train. It Is thought that he attempted at-tempted to cross the second track at a time when it was Impossible for the engineer on the train to stop the locomotive to avoid striking the buggy. bug-gy. "When picked up, It was evident that Korth had suffered fatal injuries. He was taken to the Dee hospital, but did not recover, consciousness. The body was removed to the Larkln &. Sons' mortuary and will be taken to Willard tomorrow morning, an automobile auto-mobile cortege leaving the Larkin chapel at 10 o'clock. The funeral will be held In the "Wlllard meeting house tomorrow, at 2 p. m., and Interment will be in the Willard cemetery. The deceased was born in Germany, July 21, 1850, and came to Utah in 1893, settling at Willard. He is survived sur-vived by his wife and the following children: Rudolph, of Germany; Emma, Hazel and Mary of, Willard, Mrs. Augusta A. Biddle of Ogden, Gustave R. Korth of Garland, Frederick Korth, Jr., and Mrs. Lavina Kingy of Brigham City. |
