Show BOY STRUCK BY I AUTOMOBILE Struck by an auto-truck of the Brown Ice Cream company about 8:30 o'clock last night, Leland Brien, a 15-year-old Western Union Telegraph messenger iboy, was knocked to tho pavement on Twenty-fifth street between be-tween Lincoln and Grant avenuos, and received several scalp wounds and a possible iconcussion of the brain. The driver of tho truck, J. 8. Hoggan, was placed under arrest by Officers James Henrn and Dan Sullivan and will bo held in custody pending the outcome of the messenger boy's Injuries. At the time of the accident, Brien was riding a bicycle on Twenty-fifth street and, it is said, Hoggan ran him down with the truck. After striking tho pavement, the boy and bicycle were pushed along several feet before tho auto-truck was brought to a standstill. stand-still. Brien was picked up and taken to his home, 1904 Odell avenue, and was attended by Dr. C. K. MaoMurdv The accident Is attributed to tho so-" vere storm which was on at the time, obstructing the view of the truck driver. |
