Show VILLA TO GUARD ALL AMERICANS Washington, Jan. 26. Assurances were given to Secretary of State Bryan today by Enrique Llorente. General Villa's asent in Washington, that ample protection would be given Jo the lives and proKjrtles of American Amer-ican citizens in any territory under! the control of General 1 1 la and his forces The statements were made by Mr. Llorente with hpecial reference to the reports that Tampico Is about to be attacked by G.-nera Villa, whose troops are inoviug down from Monterey. Mon-terey. General i i in has staled that his capture of Tampico would be a fact "in a lew davs " The assurances of Mr. Llorente were to prevent, if possible, the wholesale whole-sale departure of Americans from Tampico. The Americans In that town have been clamoring to be taken out, fearing that they will be between two fires if they remain Mr Llorente also assured the state department that General Villa was opposed to the decree recently announced an-nounced by Carranza, which proposes pro-poses to abrogate land titles and other vested rights of foreigners in Mexico.
