Show ; CHICAGO GRAIN Chicago, Jan. 27 Wheat swept higher in price again today, easily excelling all previous war quotations. Business in the pit was on a large scale, with buying on the part of commission houses unusually free. F'orecasts of a cold wave suggested a chance of peril to winter wheat, especially es-pecially in the southwest and there were bullish adices of a new advance ad-vance to the market at Liverpool. Reports Re-ports were also current that shipments ship-ments of grain had been shut off at all elevators in Illinois counties in which live stock has been quarantined quaran-tined After opening unchanged to 7-8tf? lc higher, prices here rose more than L'c, but afterward reacted about a cent Cold weather in prospect put strength into corn. On the bulge, however, there were large profit taking tak-ing sales by longs. The opening, which varied from a shade off to l-8l-4c up, was followed by a moderate mod-erate upturn all around and then a general setback Offerings of oats were light. Provisions Pro-visions seemed to be governed chiefly by the action of corn. Provisions weakened with hogs Afterward, Aft-erward, though, the firmness of grain was an offset. In later dealings the wheat market mar-ket lacked only 1 l-8c of touching $1.50, the May delivery having ascended as-cended to $1.48 7-8. July made a greater relative advance, 3c a bushel to $1.33 7-8- Reports were received that Nebraska Nebras-ka millers were buying wheat at prices equal to $1 50 on the track at Chicago. Advices that millers were absorbing absorb-ing the meager offerings from the country gave additional strength later la-ter to the market The close was nervous at 1 7-8 to 2 l-2c above last night Prices later hardened owing to quarantine regulations preventing the handling of grain in fifteen entire counties of Illinois and In parts of a much larger number of counties There were also reports that Canada Can-ada would remove the duty on oats Corn closed firm at 5-8 to 7-8 (ale net advance.
