University of Utah football huskies held a -stiff workout yesterday afternoon and evening eve-ning in preparation for their game with the Colorado Tigers next Saturday Satur-day in Colorado Springs. The afternoon after-noon was devoted largely to explaining explain-ing and correcting the mistakes noted In the battle with tho Boulder aggregation. aggre-gation. Assistant Coach John Breathed was observed in the presB box last Saturday Sat-urday diligently taking notes on all tho plays of the varsity as they were tried out against the Coloradoans. His notes form the subject for many an illustrated lecture to the grldlsts and much enlightenment is thus dished up to tho warriors, who are too often busy smashing an opposing linemen amidships to observe tho scientific points of play necessary to a finished game. A number of special formations will be sprung on tho Tigers, which should work well. Both the plan of offense and defense will be adapted to Colorado's Colo-rado's particular style of play. All of tho men aro in good shape. Most of them arc slightly stiff from their battle Saturday and a number of skinned joints and bruised muscles aro demanding attention from Trainer Train-er Nlelson. But with the efficient Einar on tho job and the over-ready baking oven working well, the men will be in good shape by the timo they are ready for their invasion. oo FIRE DESTROYS STORE. Rock Springs, Wyo., Nov. 1. A spark struck by a hammer from a nail while a box was being opened in the basement of Charles G. Kendall's storo at Lyons, a coal camp seven miles from this place, caused a firo which completely destroyed ' the store, entailing en-tailing a loss of $7000. Tho spark flew iuto a can of gasoline and an explosion explo-sion resulted. The goods in the basement base-ment were deluged with burning gasoline gas-oline and within a few minutes the firo was beyond, control. The destruction de-struction of the building and contents was so complcto that only a heap of ashes and a partly melted office safe remained. |
