Before Be-fore flagman got out more than no feet from rear of train, at 10:27 p. m , 2nd section No. IP, engine 2400, Conductor Con-ductor YV J May. Engineer L. R Baxter, collided with 1st section "It Is the opinion of this hoard that Flagman Robert .1 Scott failed lo go ba' k as per rules to properly protect his train when it stopped at Imlay an unusual length of time, and when called call-ed in. failed to leave a red fusee or torpedoes; that when train was further fur-ther delayed and he wa whistled out. he failed to make proper effort to get ii r with proper signals to stop the second section; that Engineer i, R Baxter of 2nd section No 19 entered Imlay yard not under control after passing distant signal at caution and failed to observe home signal at stop in advance, located 445 feet easl of where rear of first section was standing stand-ing and failed to see the markers on rear of first section; that Conductor H E. Cahill of 1st section fiiled to see that his train was properly pro tected by the flagman; and that I ire man H E. Mornston of second I ec tion No 19 failed to ask his engineer position of home signal after he had passed distant signal at caution as bis own view entering yard was obscured ob-scured by steam and smoke trcliing from stack on his side" |
