Show WILLIE 1PPE WINS EASILY New York, Nov. 23. William Hoppo of Now York hud no trouble tonight in defending bis titie as balk line billiard bil-liard champion against Welker Cocli-ran, Cocli-ran, the ycunj; lowan, in the deciding contest of the 18.2 handicap billlad tournament Cochran was defeated by 600 to 218, his handicap being 200 points. Cochran's showing was somewhat of a disappointment, as he had been able to defeat all the other bllliard stars in the tournament Hoppe made victory sure in the second inning, in-ning, when ho ran up 308 points without with-out stopping, for the record high run of the tournament. Hoppe's average was 55 5-9. Cochran's high run was 9, and hi6 averago 2 2-8. In the afternoon contest George Sutton defeated Koji Yamada 400 to 252. The high runs and averages were Sutton 101 15-1026, and Yamada Yama-da 299 18-26. The final standing was Hoppe, Cochran, Sutton, George Slos-son, Slos-son, Yamada and Joseph Mayer. Hoppe Hop-pe won all his five games and Mayer lost bis five. Hoppe's high run in. the second inning in-ning for 308 points established a new record for 18.2 balk line billiards. The former high mark was 307, made by Hoppe againBt Jake Scbaeffer in Chicago In 1906. |
