Show STORM STILL GRIPS THE EAST Cold, Northerly Wind With Rain and Snow Sweeps North Atlantic Seaboard. New York, Dec. 8. A cold northerly wind, accompanied at many points by rain and snow still held New York City and the North Atlantic Seaboard in the grip of tho first storm of the winter today. Until a late hour last night the wind, whleh at times yesterday reached velocity of 68 miles an hour, and lashed the sea into a fury that swept the coast from North Carolina to Maine, continued unabated. As in the storms of last year, Sea-bright, Sea-bright, N J, bore the brunt of the gale, while summer resort towns all along the New Jersey and Long Island coast suffered heavy losses. The property damage was estimated today to-day at ?500,000. Washington. Dec 8. The northeast . gale which tore up the Atlantic coast for the last three days was whisking out to sea eastwards of Cape Cod today, leaving behind a record of winds and high water. Another storm of marked Intensity is off the North Pacific coast. Overcast, unsettled weather prevails over practically all parts of the country. |
