Show l oo- BEVERLY MUST FACE CHARGE OF FORGERY IN CALIFORNIA Sheriff T. A. UeVine has received v.ord from the officers of Bakersfield Cf2ii that an oTflcgr will be on hi?, ay to Ogden shortly with requisi tion papers for Buckley Beverly alias R T. Hughes who is being hold here on the charge of Issuing worthless checks It is said that the Callfor-j nia authorities have preferred the charge of forgery against Beverly and j that he will be prosecuted at Bakers field. A letter addressed to Sheriff De-1 Vine gives the information that Bev- j erly stole railroad passes from R. T. Hughes and used them on his way to Utah and that he was guilty of forgery when he signed the name of Hugh?s to checks. The California officers state further that Beverly has served time In Nevada and California. It will be recalled that Beverly made himself known in Ogden as R T. Hughes and that he gained the confidence confi-dence of memberB of the local Ellis lodge to the extent that they endorsed a couple of checks for him which turned out to be worthless It is said that he could be prosecuted here I ; for forgery as he signed the name of I Hughes to the checks. 1 |
