Show FINAL TRIBUTE PAID EDITOR Veteran Sporting Writer of San Francisco Beloved by Many World-wide Condolences Con-dolences Sent. San Francisco, March 12. Evidence Evi-dence of tho affection and esteem in which the late W. W. Naughton was held, not only by newspaper men and the sporting fraternity, but by the public in general, was witnessed today at the funeral of the veteran sporting writer, who died Tuesday. St. Mary's Cathedral, where the service was held, could not accommodate accommo-date all of "Uncle Bill's" friends. Six members of the mechanical department de-partment of the Examiner, of which newspaper Naughton was the sporting sport-ing editor for many years, carried the coffin. Honorary ball bearers, numbering many prominent newspaper newspa-per and professional men, and special committees from newspapers, social and athletic clubs, marched in the procession. Messages of condolence from all parts of this country and from Australia, Aus-tralia, have been received by Mrs. Naughton and 'the San Francisco Press club, of which Naughton was president. |
