Show BENCH CANAL MUST CARE FOR OVERFLOW MTERS On the recommendation of Commissioner Com-missioner J. C, Nye. the board of city commissioners last night instructed in-structed the recorder to advise the Bench canal company to make arrangements ar-rangements to take care of the overflow over-flow water of the canal on Quincy avenue, between Twenty-seventh and Twenety-elghth streets, before high water In the spring Road Supervisor C H. Martin reported re-ported that there had been expended expend-ed on the streets last month the some of 13,699 80. of which ?100u was expended on the Harrison avenue ave-nue and dugway macadam road. The balance of the amount was expended In grading and graveling various streets, and In making other repairs and improvements. fierk Pulton of the municipal court reported the collections of last month In fees and forfeitures to be 1587.80. The board decided to sit as a board of review and equalization to consider consid-er complaints in the matter of building build-ing In pa. ing district 105 and sidewalk side-walk district 121 The ordinance granting a franchise to the Oregon Short Lino to build a spur track to the Superior Honey company s factory near Walnut avenue ave-nue was passed. The petition of property owners for an arc light on Lincoln avouue and Twentieth street, was referred to the superintendent of streets. The claim of J. W Crow, that bil wife suffered injuries at the corner of Twenty-fourth street and Washington Wash-ington avenue, while attempting to travel over the boardwalk placed there by the contractors on the Ec-cles Ec-cles building, was referred to the committee of the whole.
