Show UTAH MILCH COWS MORE VALUABLE l A year ago the milch cows of Utah were valued at $49 a head, while today to-day they are worth $59, or the entire number of 8$,000 estimated to be In the state, are worth $1,127,000 more than last year, according to the estimates esti-mates of the United States weather bureau and bureau of statistics, issued is-sued yesterday by Director A. H. Thi-essen Thi-essen of the local weather bureau. The report states that while a part of the increased valuation is derived from an increase In the number of cows, tho greater part comes from higher prices. The livestock industry, indus-try, as a whole, shows an increased valuation of $3,347,000. An increase of 5,000 head of horses is alone responsiblo for an increased valuation of $185,000 on horses, as they are worth less per head. Tho report re-port also shows that the number of hogs was Increased last year from 81,000 to 85,000 head. Utah sheep show a decrease, there having been hoth a drop in price and In the number num-ber of animals. |
