Show Federal Judge McPherson Up-holds Up-holds Attorney-General of Missouri in Rate Enforcement. Kansas City, Jan. 30. Injunctions against John T. Barker, attorney-gen-eral of Missouri, preventing him from fl proceeding with suits to recover $24,000,000 excess freight and passen- IH ger charges made by railroads while fl the Missouri rate cases were in lltl-gation, lltl-gation, were dissolved in an opinion by Judge Smith McPherson, filed in tho federal court today. IH Tho original injunction brought by railroads to prevent enforcement of Missouri's two-cent passenger and maximum freight rate laws also was dismissed, in accordance with the re- fl cent decision of the United States supreme court upholding the laws. Judge McPherson appointed Wash Adams, an attorney of this city, as a master to adjudicate all claims brought in the federal court for ex-cess ex-cess charges, declaring, however, that claimants might sue for rccov-cry rccov-cry of over-charges in any court they chose state or national. |
