Show REIGN OF CRM AT LATE HOUR ON FRIDAY HI Three highway robberies and two burglaries were reported to the police po-lice last night from different parts of the city. The first was H. C. Parsons, Par-sons, who was held up by three men on Wall avenue, between Twenty-second Twenty-second and Twenty-third streets about 8:30 o'clock. One of the robbers rob-bers hit him across the i arm with a club,, knocking him down. As he was getting up, another hit him In tho face, knocking him down again. The robbers took his gold watch and j $3.50 in cash. About 10 o'clock, Lou Brltton, the second victim, came Into the station. Ho was held up about 9:15 by three men, the holdup occurring near Thirty-third and Washington avenue. From him; the ro"bbers secured aJ gold watch and chain, after knocking-his knocking-his hat over his eyes. Robert Nelson was held up on God-dard God-dard avenue, between Washington and Grant avenues. He lost $15. The police were unable to locate the robbers, but it is probable that all three holdups were committed by the same men. At 7:30 o'clock, J. H. Reilly, 205 Twenty-eighth street, reported that his house had been entered and $2 in cash and a bank book taken. Mrs. Riley, with other members of the family, had gone over to the home of her son, J. H. Riley, who lives just around the corner which is about three doors from the parental home, for dinner about G:15 p. m.' Immediately Imme-diately after dinner, Mrs. Riley returned re-turned to her home and found the front screen and door open. Becoming Be-coming suspicious, she turned on the lights and saw a number of burnt matches on the floor. She found that tho burglars had taken' a box of matches from tho kitchen and had left them on the sideboard from which ?2 was taken. There was nothing else disturbed, the burglars probably being frightened away before be-fore they could make a further search for valuables. At 10:30 Mrs. Plumer B. Haslet, 4-17 Twenty-ninth street, returned homo nnd discovered that her house had been ransacked. The ouly article ar-ticle missing Is an emblem pin. At the home of P. B. Haslot matches were found on the floor and the doors were left open. The burglary in the Haslet home was discovered dis-covered by Mrs, Haslet on her return re-turn from one of the theaters about 10 o'clock. She had been to the show with a friend who lives near by. After reaching her companion's home, went on to her own homo alone. Arriving Ar-riving at the gate, she saw that tho front door was open. She went into the house and. turning on the lights, saw plenty of evidence that the house had been burglarized. Tho furniture was disarranged, the dresser dress-er and side-board drawers pulled out and practically everything in the houso had been moved. She Immediately Imme-diately telephoned for the police and called In some of the neighbors. The auto-patrol soon arrived on the scene with three officers of the night shift and a thorough investigation was made. When an inventory of the things taken by the burglars had been made, clothing valued at over $200. Mr. Haslet's check book and several othor articles were in the list. |
