Show TAX LEVY IS TO' BE FIXED BY BOARDS Tomorrow morning both the county and city boards rf ommlsBlonerB will meet to fix the rate of taxation for this year, both having received the ClgureB showing the assessed valua tlons of taxable property The law requires that the rate must be fixed .luring the month or July The last election for special road taxes Is be ing held at Eden today and the city special election for waterworks bonds Were held yesterday, bo both boards will be prepared to determine the rate. While the valuations in the county and city were Increased somewhat In the past year, it is the opinion of County Clerk Samuel G. Dye and members of the county board of commissioners com-missioners that the tax rate for the county will be raised about 1 mill which will make the rate this year L'4 2 mills This Is due to the fact thai the county school board Is ask ing for more money for the building and maintenance fund. Mavor Fell states that the city t.rst rate will be reduced 2 mills Last year the rale was 14 mills, 2 mills of which was for the waterworks fund J The city yesterday having voted a bond of $75,000 tor the waterworks department for the bulldiDg of the South Fork reservoir dam. there Tb I no necessity this year for a water tax 1 Had the bond election not carried the i ii, taxes this year would have been !
