The spot where the present break occurs has several little springs of water and necessitates pumplns and working in wacer, though one man pumping is able to keep the water wa-ter down But for the cave-in, above referred to. the excavation at this break would have gone down quickly. The cave-In destroyed tho timbering on both sides of the trench and it will be several days before the trench can be retlmbered and work progress. The "knocking of the dam. because the break of 20 feet appears, is premature, pre-mature, as a break of feet can be bridged even for a dam. but It is expected the blue limestone will show up even in this 20-foot break In the wall. |
