July 22 Within two months from date the United Stfcea Phosphate company, a Salt Lake or ganlzation. will have in operation iu fine grinding plant at Border. Wyo ., which will constitute this company fch first to install equipment within t'i enormous phosphate deposits of Yo-mlng. Yo-mlng. Utah and Idaho for the purpose of utilizing these deposits The United Slates company for over a year has been making regular shipments of the crude rock to the various markets around Salt Lake, but this plan now being put in will grind 95 per cent of the heads to a 100-menh. thereby bringing It Into Immediate shape for use as a fertilizer. Use la Increasing. In the east and middle west the agricultural communities are being convinced of the merits of the crude finely ground, natural phosphate rook as a fertlllzor. which naturally is cheaper In cost and of more durable character than the chemically pre pared fertilizer with which the agri cultural world has been famllmr heretofore. here-tofore. The west Is beginning to ap predate this fact also, resulting In 1 continually widening market for the natural bat fney ground rock, the theory being that the soil acids will liberate the fertilizing element In the rock rather thaD demand that the rock be passed through a chemical process before application 'h soil. In the mountain section surround lng these phosphate deposits there are numerous smeltln? plants where the sulphuric acid needed in the manufac I ture of fertilizer could be produced but the fact that the smelters so fat have not made a move to manufacture such acid Is sufficient evidence that such an enterprise Is as yet deemed untimely In this part of the country It Is extremely fortunate, therefore, for the UtahOJ interested that the nat ural rock can be and Is being used, for It affords an Immediate market for the rock of which there Is a practlc ally unlimited supply in Utah, Wyoming Wyom-ing and Idaho The plant at Border, which should be operating by September 1. will have a daily capacity of 100 tons of crude rock dally, and this will bc tho Initial unit of a large enterprise eventually, the officials of the com pany being ready to Increase the milling mill-ing capacity as the demand for tho prbduci grows |
