Show 'OLD FOLKS' IS SENTENCED TO JAIL When the case of Elmer Henley and "Old Folks" King, both colored, was tried this morning, new light was thrown on the brawl that took place on Wall avenue early Tuesday morning morn-ing and the stories told by the prln clpals and witnesses furnished much ainuiVment for tho large "audience" In Judge Reader's court this morning. The two men charged with disturb ing the peace by fighting were arrested arrest-ed by Patrolman John Murphy at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, in a room ing house on Wall avenue At the time of the arrest King was lying on a bed with several gashes In his head while Henley was standing near with a piece of iron in his hand The witness wit-ness In the case, Mary' Green, was the colored lady who summoned the arresting ar-resting officer. She has been arrested arrest-ed on the charge of vagrancy. Mary Green said that Henley had come to her room about 2 o'clock in the morning and about two hours later she had heard a noise Upon going out into the hall to Investigate she had found King breaking Into a room by picking a lock with a file. She said she had fold Henley and he "vent at King and beat him up." Henley and King told conflicting stories but the evidence pointed to 'Old Folks" as the trouble maker Judge Reeder sentenced King to 40 days and let Henley off with a sentence sen-tence of seven day6 |
