Show AGREEMENT ON THE BRILLIANT WHITE WAY This morning the city board of com missioners entered into an agreement with the Ogden Rapid I'ransit company, com-pany, the Merchants Light &. Power company and the Weber club whereby where-by the city Is to have brilliantlj llghl - d streets from Wall avenue to Wash iugton avenue on Twenty-fifth street and from Twenty-second street to Twenty-sixth on Washington avenue. The agreement requires that the transit company suspend Its trolle) wires from steel poles on each ld of the streets The Weber club has agreed with property owners abutting abut-ting these streets whereby they arc io pay a certain amount of monev foi i lie installat ion of i?u h poles togeth cr with arm lamps 11 in each blocU The Merchants Light & Power eom-ivany eom-ivany agrees to Install the lighting .system the transit company to paj one-half the cost of the poles and one-ball one-ball the cost of Installation and also one-half the cost of providing and placing cross arms on the poles In stringing wires to carry electric current cur-rent for the car system, and also for the lighting of the lamps The Weber club will raise the funds lo piy one-half the cost of the poles and o ne half the cost of placing them In the streets and a half of the eost of the necessary cross arm:' The power company will equip the pole-; with arr lamps and connect them With its distributing system The city agrees to pav the power company for the furnishing of the current cur-rent for the lightinc of the lami al a rate not to exceed $4 7", per lamp per month for seven lamps to each block the first year and for the second sec-ond and third years the same prii e tor 14 lamps a blo k. The Weber club will pay for seven of the lamp-; on each block ;it the same ra'e the City pays the first year The transit company will retain a half interest in the poles and mo power company will retain title to the lamps, c ross arms and w ires, the it at all times to have the right to ihe use of the pole-- for decorating pu--poses. The power company will be required to paint the poles.. President H M Rowe of the Weber We-ber club states that not all of the property owners have subscribed for the fulfillment of the club's pan ol the contract and that the system cannot can-not be Installed until they have done so He expects, however, that th.' money will be forthcoming In the nev few days and thai the Installation will be begun immediately thereafter. thereaft-er. President Rowe stated ro the board of commissioners that officers of the llarrlman roads had advised him thai they had asked for an appropriation of $1500 for the installation of a like lighting system at the depot, reaching reach-ing to Wall avenue |
