Show NEW TRIAL FOR OLSSON Citizenship Case Will Be Tried Again in Seattle District Court San Francisco, Feb 13. A new trial of Leonard Olsson of Seattle, deprived of cltlsenshlp by former Judge Cornelius Cor-nelius Han ford, was ordered today by the United States circuit court of appeals ap-peals lb conformity with a stipulation stipula-tion previously signed by counsel for Olwon and the government. The case was remanded to tho United States district court and will be tried in Seattle. Se-attle. Olsson's citizenship papers were cancelled by Judge Hanford on the ground that he had obtained them through fraud when he swore he was attached to the constitution of th United Statee, whereas in point Of fact, as a Socialist, he held opposite viewfc The Socialist party took up the case at Washington and a congression al Inquiry into Judge Hanford's conduct con-duct of his office was ordered, result ing in his resignation while the inquiry in-quiry was still In progress. At the hearings conducted Olsson testified that he had never said he was not attached to tho constitution, but only that he was not "devotedly" attached, and that It was on his construction con-struction of the word "devotedly" that the case tinned. oo |
