ANNALEE LIVINGSTONE I MIss of Indianapolis Ili is the pretty year old daughter of Axon whose diamond mines In South Africa make him one of the tho richest men in the Middle West Her chums chum's Marcia Johns Alice Lewis Florence James and Martha Frye have I almost equally br brilliant backgrounds of I wealth and social position In fact when you have named this quintet you have I named five of the richest most roost fashionable fashionable I ble young beauties of whom Western so- so soI society so society I can boast I And they are as full of high spirits I and as keen for romantic adventure BS as they are rich fashionable and charming I Tho latest evidence of this is found in what when hen the they concealed their identity under assumed names laid aside their fine clothes for ones such as not at atall atall atall all wealthy g wear ear and became mem mem- members mem- mem members members bers of an Indianapolis organization familIarly known as the tho Joy Club This Is le a branch of a national society which has taken for its name the tho mys mys- mysterious mysterious mysterious initials W W B and M It has chapters in Chicago and in a number of Indiana cities besides Indianapolis Although the constitution of the W WW W B and M does not say precisely this the general impression is that the chief purpose of the society is to encourage romances among its men and women members This is why it has been nick nick- nicknamed nicknamed nicknamed named the Joy Club and this reputed feature of its activities is what appealed to the restless imaginations of Livingstone and her chums and made mado them t think ink it would be great fun to join Like so BO many other society heiresses who have more money than they now how to spend Annalee and her friends were getting insufferably bored with life Even perilous airplane flights and trips to Russia to select the costly sables for their winter coats could not begin to supply the thrills they craved They wanted something novel and startling something quite different from anything to be found amid the t i 1 H B tiresome conven- conven conventions conventions H conven-H and formalities of tho the smart their treatment of the most distinguished members the club ever had or perhaps ever will have The charge on which the tho suspension of the five girl members was based is said to have been too much joy in your hearts which state is in m defiance of the thee e pressed expressed of this society There are many different explanations of just what hat was meant by too much joy Ap- Ap Apparently
