SPORTING MAN AND HIS PARAMOUR ARE STABBED by the former lover of the woman drink said to be the cause of the crime buffalo N Y july 11 peter for castal a well known saloonkeeper saloon keeper and sporting man and marie smith 32 years of age waitress in Us saloon restaurant were murdered early today the smith woman forn ferry lived with hodson and her refusal io leave forestalls Fore place and resume her relation arith hodson are alleged to have been the cause for the double murder hodson was arrested a few minutes after the crime was committed ho was covered with blood but declared that he had no recollection of what occurred forestal was sitting in front of his saloon it la alleged when hodson rushed up and scabbed him with a butcher knife forestal sank to the ground and his assailant again plunged the nine inch blade of the knife into his body hodson it is alleged then rushed up stairs to alary smiths room she was in bed asleep but was awakened by the bursting open of the door As she sprang from the bed hodson stabbed her twice inflicting wounds in her breast and abdomen forestal died in five minutes the woman was taken to a hospital where she died upon the operating table hodson declared he had been drinking and had no recollection of what bad happened forestal was 60 years of age his edward J forestal is captain of police
