| Show NEW YORK LIFE AGENT prosecuted nov SS with unlawful discrimination in favor of benjamin C of this city in connection with the issuance of a life insurance policy tor harold pearce tho general agent in philadelphia of the new york life insurance company was given a bearing before magistrate today and held in ball for his appearance in court pearce it is charged caused to be issued a policy on the life of warnick for which the latter did not leave to pay the first years premium which amounted to 2505 the principal witness in the case is Warn lck he said a man named E A alley came to him and told him that he could get warnick a policy in the new york alfo company through without Warn lck having to pay a cent of the fart years premium reily explained said that by obtaining this policy pearce would bo able to get a special bonus from tho company and thus get more commissions than he could otherwise obtain to tills assented making the proviso that it must be regular and within tho law a he would not accept it otherwise about ft month or two later tho receipted policy was delivered to him without his paying any thereon warnick said he subsequently decided that the transaction was not regular and requested the company to take back the policy he informed bla attorney about the matter and added hat he knew nothing of this prosecution until he was summoned to appear in the case agent peirce declined to discuss the case after the hearing he said that ho would have a complete answer to the charge at tho proper time tho prosecution waa brought under a state prevent discrimination and tha awarding of rebates on slice premiums |
