Show commissioners MADE AWARE OF ITS destructiveness county board in session transact much road and bridge business and hear complaints from mondays standard the boarde of county commissioners met in regular session this morning and transacted considerable routine business among which was the appointment of chairman joseph stan ford as delegate to attend the trans mississippi congress to be held at portland august ag 19 to represent weber county mr allson reported that B L bybee road supervisor of uintah had died on saturday last and that during his illness his son B L bybee jr has acted as supervisor also that the latter will continue in that capacity temporarily mr allson also reported that he had met with city engineer A F parker in regard to the plans and specifications for the bridge in aden valley and that the same would bo ready for presentation to the board at its meeting on monday next commissioner madsen reported that he had visited west weber district owing to the complaint that had been received at tho previous meeting from mr concerning the slough that prevented the latter from getting to part of his land mr madsen stated that be had found that mr had trouble in getting around the slough to his hay land but that the slough referred to was a natural pool so that the county could not be called upon to remove the same he stated that he had however instructed the road supervisor for that district to take what action he could to remedy in a measure the cause for ha complaint this action it was stated was satisfactory to mr the same commissioner stated that in connection with his visit to the west weber district he had found four places where the county roads cross the railroad track that were badly in need of grading to meet with the grade established by the railroad people for their tracks the matter will be taken up with superintendent E C manson with a view to having the railroad leopla dump sufficient gravel at the places indicated for the grading of the approach for the county roads mr madsea also reported that he had visited the warren district and found that some work was being done on the new road there that the hudson fence had been moved back and that the road supervisor was putting the road in passable condition he further reported that the bridge over salt creek was in bad condition but stated there was plenty of material in tho structure so that with the placing of stone abutments no additional material would be required to repair the bridge the matter was referred to commissioner stanford with power to act in his visit to the plain alty district mr madsea reported that he had inspected the new bridge across warron creek and had found the work on the same had been done in a very satisfactory is manner commissioner stanford reported that he had visited the anty infirmary and that it appears that the tomato crop there was suffering from some kind of blight that would probably destroy a large portion of the crop in the matter of E E lande th patient at the ogden general hospital which was referred to the board at its previous session mr stanford reported that both dr joyce who made the report and dr gordon the county physician were in portland and that he had been unable to further invests gate mr stanford was given further time in with the complaint referring to the refuse from the sugar factory being turned into the river killing this fish the reason for the extension of time was on account of fish tend game warden hoag being too busy during the past week to meet with mr stanford for a visit to the factory in connection with the matter brought up at the precious prey ious meeting of the board in regard to the county making the usual appropriation for the burial of the late W H dark an old soldier mr stanford reported that the necessary evidence in tho case had not been produced and nothing further had been done thomas moore of hooper appeared before tho board and stated that a road in that district that led to the river had been closed by a fence being built across the same by joseph powers after mr moore had made his statement to the board the complaint was referred to commissioner stanford to investigate vesti gate and report A communication was received from the state board of sheep commissioners advising that an assessment ot 3 mills on each one dollar of the assessed value of sheep was levied for the year 1805 the communication was ordered filed and will be taken up and considered by the board n making the general tax levy KIMBALL ON THE BENCH arguments were heard in tho die tract court this morning in the damage sult oe brown vs the southern pacific railroad company et al and at the conclusion of ehg same the bailiff of the court took taj jury before whom the case is being heard to the railroad yards tor tho purpose of looking over the scene of iha accident after charging the jury judge howell on account of other pressing business called
