Show IS THRIVING TOWN CITY IN CANYON IS YOUNGEST OF communities future men club who compose the city treated to pancake banquet from mondays standard there was quite a delegation of visitors from ogden and alon at the encampment of the future mens club near huntsville yesterday and the day proved to be a most enjoyable one both to the boys and visitors judge brown addressed the boys during the day the boys were found to be all well happy and enjoying their outing immensely men sely on account of a rumor being circulated that the lads were not getting sufficient food an inquiry was made on this point and without exception the boys stated thai they were getting plenty to eat and were having the time of their lives to offset the story thai the boys were not properly fed mrs S J griffin of this city and mrs wallis brown of sail lake took up a large quantity of ingredients for the making of pancakes and the boys were treated to a pancake feast about 00 or cakes were baked and ealen by the lads during the day A pretty feature in connection with the ogden delegations table is found in the fact that the place at the table of each of the lads bears a name BO that there ia no confusion when the boys gather for mess the town has been named bean valle and signs hye been erected at each of the public officer such as police court etc the tents have been divided into wards from which coun acumen have been elected to look after the cites interests for the benefit of tbt visitors five boys were arraigned in the court after being arrested by the police with judge brown jr on th bench the jury selected to try the case was as follows charles whitemore more J T rushmer W allsen W L underwood leland lewis art winters L bardln and af morehouse Mor enouse ned roberts acted as counsel for the prosecution and earl white and charles noble the mayor acted as counsel for the defendants the charge upon which the lads were arraigned was for contempt of court cpr appearing at a session of that body without completing toilets the attorneys for the defense set forth the fact that the prisoners were summoned into court on the occasion from which the contempt proceedings arose and were told to come in any condition after some very able arguments by counsel for both sides the jury retired and soon returned a verdict of guilly the sentence pronounced upon the boys by the court was that they should be compelled to bare six pancakes which they should themselves eat among the visitors at the bainn yesterday were mr and mrs J deegan mr and mrs S J the rutledge family J T rushmer and the following members of mr Rush mers sunday school class art winters charles baker harold cone james drysdale and roy packer all of ogden mr and mrs Bro wh 11 S tucker and william Kenyo not salt lake |
