Show Society WHAT-I-CAN SOCIETY. Miss Sarah Van Patten entertained the What-I-Can society of the Baptist church last eenlng at her parents' home, 2?.53 Monroe avenue. The society so-ciety takes its name from the fact that the young ladles who are members mem-bers combine to study the best methods meth-ods for helping in every department of the church work. At last night's meeting "The Challenge Chal-lenge of the City" was the book discussed. dis-cussed. It deals with conditions In the alums and offers suggestions for settlement work. After the clo&e of the business session the evening was devoted to social games and music, after which a delightful luncheon was served. Those present were: Erraa Mooro, Ruth Johnson, Mvrtle Shields, Katheryno Fitzgerald, Nellie Dunsmorc, Eugenia Dunsmore, Hazel Bell, Marian Hewett, Bonnie Boyles, Eva Nay, Florence Walker. Margie Hammerson, Lillian Ilammerson. Cora Smith and Mrs. II. D. Zimmerman. CHILD CULTURE CLUB. The Child Culture club met last Tuesday with Mrs. J. T. Ljnch, 2525 Madison avenue. After the usual business session Mrs, P. T. Wright very Interestingly discussed a paper on "Silent Influence." Mrs. II. W. Shurtliff sang a number of songs in her usual charming manner. Mrs. Govans very ably read a number or Wordsworth's best poems and Mrs. H. M. Barrows gave several of his quotations, after which the hostess served dainty rofrcshmon(s. The next meeting will be hold with Mrs. Thomas D. Dec Tuesday, November 2G. SURPRISE PARTY. Tuesday evening the workers of tho religious class of the Fifth ward delightfully surprised Mrs. M. M. Schoficld at her home. 102S Capitol avenue. The rooms were prettily decorated with chrysanthemums, both red and yellow, and fern9 intertwined about the lights added to the beauty of the color scheme. The evening passed pleasantly in games, music and various other diversions, di-versions, after which n dainiv luncheon was served in the dining room by Mrs. Mary Rackham. Mrs. Lizzie Lochhead and Mrs. D. R. Wheelwright. At the piano Marguerite Budlong leudored both classical and popular music, and dancing added to tho pleasures of the evening. The members mem-bers of the religious class presented a beautiful volume of Poems of Inspiration Inspira-tion to Mrs Schofield as a reward for hor valuable assistance in the work. J YOUNG PEOPLE'S CLASS. ; The Young People's Bible class oT f th.- Baptist church met last evening 1 with the Misses Nctta Thompson and " Laura Bruce at the home of Mrs. Georgo Craig, 5:19 Twenty-third I street. U. president, and Mrs. Lllliebelle Frey, delegate, who attended the national na-tional convention at Portland, Or, will give a full report of the convention conven-tion tomorrow evening at 7:30 at the I Congregational church. Mrs. O. R. Clark will be one of the speakers and Mi:s Nellie Ramey will give several musical selections. The meeting is free to all and the public is cordially inited. EPISCOPAL LADIES. The tea given at the Episcopal parish par-ish house yesterday afternoon was a pronounced success. Mrs R. S. Farnsworth gave several very interesting inter-esting readings and vocal selections were favored the ladies by Mrs, Charles Stevens. Both of these features fea-tures added greatly and most on-joyably on-joyably to the afternoon. The hostesses were Mosdamos True, Kirchej, Horn and Woodruff. HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Tho members of the Historical r.o-l ciety will meet in Room No. 202 in the Ogden High school building, corner of Twenty-fifth and Monroe avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
