Show WILL CALL AN EXTRA SESSION Princeton, N J , Nov 13. All Indications In-dications point to the calling of a special spe-cial session of congress as soon as President-elect Wilson is sworn Into office It can bo said that the president-elect has now arrived nt a conclusion con-clusion after canvassing as man members of congress as possible and as manv of the Democratic leaders of the country as have expressed themselves them-selves publiclj That ho will announce his plans within a short time Is tho general opinion of those who have been watching his course Up to tho present, however, the governor has not puhliclv committed himself, either for or against the plan. The assumption that he favors an extra session is based upon the hints ho has dropped from time to time. r notably the statement lie made yesterday yes-terday to the delegation which invited invit-ed him to speak at Charlotte, N. C, on May 20, when he gave as a reason for putting off his reply the fact that an extra session, If called, would cover that date and keep him in Washington. While avoiding discussion of an extra session, the governor tonight took occasion to declare with emphasis em-phasis that ho proposed to carry out the pledges made In hh campaign speeches with regard to the tariff and monopolies. The governor was speaking of nib mall when he made this statement. I am going through the pile of mall as rapidly as possible" he said. "I am about half way through now and I find that there have been very few suggestions about an extra session ses-sion or about the cabinet The letters let-ters so far have been almost entirely of a congratulatory character. Nobody No-body seems to think It necessary to think about questions of tariffs or monopolies. |
