Show .GOOD AND" BAD 1 MUSIC IS HEARD At a general assembly held this morning at the Weber academy, the students listened to a clever address on "Good and Bad Music" given by Miss Myrtle Lanning. a student of the school." assisted by Mis a Gladjs Hanks who sang two songs for Illustration Illus-tration In her talk. Miss Lanning pointed out why some music is good and some Is bad, and explaned the effects of dffercnt knds of music Good music, mu-sic, she said appealed to the better side of human nature and always ele-vvated ele-vvated whilo bad music often was dograding. At the conclusion of her talk, Miss Hanks sang two songs to show the difference between what Is considered good and bad music. Her first song was a popular "rag," "That Mesmerizing Tune,' which has been a great favorite among lovers of ragtime, and her second song waB the old favorite, "Sliver Threads Among the Gold." So well did she sing the id song that, a storm of applause ap-plause greeted her when she finished, and several students decided that thev liked good music better than ragtime. oo |
