Show MAKEMAN IS KILLED BY A TRAIN B. W. Cole, a brakeman on the Oregon Short Line, was killed at a point north of Brlgham this morning at 5 o'clock In some manner unknown un-known to tho train crew, Cole felt from tho englnn and the entlro train passed over him, causing; death instantly in-stantly The train was in charge of Conductor F E. Mulhall and Engineer J. Banning. Cole who was head brakeman or, Oregon Short Lino train No 7, wai last soen by tho engineer when tho train started south from the switch at Wheelon. Ho was missed at Col-linston. Col-linston. and a backward trip wo- made. The crew found tho bodv of the brakeman acrose the track noar tho switch in a badly mutilated condition. con-dition. The rcmnlns were placed mi a caboose and taken to Brlgham where an inquest was hold When last seen alive Cole was riding rid-ing on the pilot of the locomotive a-, the train left tho switch at Wheelon He must have fallen In front of the engine at this point. At the time of the accident the train was moving Blowly, not more than three miles an hour, and tho unfortunate man made no crv when the accident occurred. Colo's homo was at No 5 Kendall Square, Salt Lakn Cit3 and his fnm-lly fnm-lly waa notified of the accident. Th3 body will be Bhli-ped from Brlgham to Salt I ako this evening |
