Show SURVEYING GANG ARRIVES IN OGDEN Running Preliminary Lines For Electric Road North to Logan Obtains Ob-tains Less Than 3 Per Cent Grade From Ogden Valley Into Cache Valley Road to Parallel Ogden Rapid Transit Through Ogden Canyon Will Follow the Dug-way Dug-way Into the City. . v A gang of ten surveyors rcache( Ogden at 5 o'clock yesterdny after noon, coming from Logan by way o Ogden canyon, having abandonee camp near Eden and boarded the canyon cers at the Hermitage. The survevors represent a corapanj headed by P. A. Wells which plans to construct an electric line from Ogden Og-den to Lagan, through Ogden canyor and over the divide north of Liberty The men have comploted a topographical topo-graphical survoy and have carefully studied the prospective route with tho rosult that they claim a road cau be built, without extraordinary outlay, out-lay, having less than a maximum U per cent grade. They state that the road will come down 'Ogden canyon, and will not be mndc a part of the Ogden Rapid Transit system. At the, mouth of the canyon tho lino is to go over the dugway, and then down Twentieth street to Washington, Washing-ton, along Washington to Twpnty-eecond Twpnty-eecond street, down Twenty-second street to Lincoln and along Lincoln to a connection with the Bamberger road. For the past few weeks P. A. Wells of Omaha, representing certain business busi-ness interests of the east, has had this force of engineers at vork surveying sur-veying the line from Logan to Ogden by way of Liberty and Eden in tho Ogden valley. Mr. Wells was in the city yesterday yester-day afternoon but he departed for Omaha In the evening, ostensibly to procure 'urther negotiations with east, ern capital for the prosecution of the preliminary work Hcwi!l be gone a number of days, but it is expected that on his return his plans for building the electric line will be made msre definite. The question of right-of-way is one that Is of great importance, particularly particu-larly In Ogden canyon. The Ogden Rapid Transit company already has a line in operation from Ogden to the Hermitage, which embraces that part of tho canyon most difficult in engineering problems, but it is claimed claim-ed "by Mr Wells that there is a way through the canyon other than over the Rapid Transit. It has not been long sine Mr Wells was granted a franchise through Cache county by the commissioners of that section and some of the business busi-ness interests In the Temple City and other places in the county subscribed $25,000 to aid tho project, the plan proposed being to build and operate an electric car lino between Ogden and Logan. In the meantime the Da id Eccles Interests of this city are plan- 'ning to extend their road from the Hermitage In Ogden canyon to lh i'pper valley at an early time and if I is quite certain chat plans for tho j building of tho road through to Logan Lo-gan are now an blue print j |
