Show LOCAL BUYS IN IHEILS, NAVY According to Electrician C. L. Wood, in charge of the local navy recruiting station, a greater percentage of candidates can-didates examined for tho navy pass in Ogden than in most other cities. Since the office has been established, twenty-nine candidates have been examined ex-amined and ninotcen were accepted. Of these nineteon, however, only nine were accepted after taking tho examination exam-ination in Salt Lako. In his experience, experi-ence, Mr. Wood stated that the usual average was one man accopted from ten examined. He is surprised at the record made in this office. During the past week four young men were examined and accepted. They were Fred Beck of Rexberg, Idaho; Ida-ho; James I. Patton of Junction City, Texas; Carl Morgan, Wendell, Idaho, and Vernon J. Mordant of Ogden. The officer in chargo of the local station has found that many joung men desiro to learn wireless telegraphy tele-graphy and join tho navy in order to take advantage of the opportunity offered of-fered in this line The government has established a school to teach that branch of telegraphy at tho' Mare Island Is-land navy yard, near San Francisco |
