Valentine, commissioner of Indian affairs, af-fairs, yesterday sent his resignation to tho interior department to become offective at the discretion of Secretary Secre-tary Fisher, now In Hawaii. Mr. Valentine Val-entine -w J!l Join the Progressive party Commissioner Valentine previously was assistant to Commissioner Leupp, whom he succeeded. In a statement oxplnlning his resignation, Mr. Valentine Val-entine referred to his desire to work in the Progressive party as his only wish for Quitting office. He made no mention of the ordor which he promulgated pro-mulgated a few months ago forbidding the wearing of religious garb by teachers in Indian schools. ElectorE for Roosevelt. Jefferson City, -Mo., Sept. 11 That eight of the eighteen presidential electors elec-tors nominated in St. Louis, April 25, have signed an agreement practically pledging theniBOlvcs to support Roosevelt, Roose-velt, if elected ln the November election, elec-tion, developed yesterday afternoon at tho meeting here of the Republican stato committee. At the committee's meeting today the agreement will be considered In joint session betweon the committee and the candidates of tho party.
