Show CHICAGO HAS NO PAY FOR POLICE Chicago, Sept 11. Every member of Chicago's police department may bo compolled to take a furlough of thirty-six days without pay on account ac-count of the city's financial condition. A long conference was held between the several captains and Chief of Police Po-lice McWeeny in the latter's office yesterday. Following tho return of the captains to their various stations last night, the talk became genoral among the policomen rogarding tho enforced furloughs There is a deficiency de-ficiency of $3,701,000 In tho city's treasury caused by a recent decision of the supreme court on the law, which pertains to fixing a basis for taxation of property. |
