In the midst of protests from tho Republican side, Speaker Clark today declared the wool bill passed over the president's veto by 174 to 80, The vole wns 174 to pass it. SO against it and 10 ot-Ing ot-Ing present. There were 264 members in the hall Speaker Clark ruled that two-third-, of those voting could pass the bill. Republicans claimed it required two-thirds two-thirds of those present, or 170. eA great disturbance followed the ruling. Motions were made to tablo the ruling, but wcro finally withdrawn, nnd it was conceded on both Bides that the bill had been passed over tho presidents veto. leaders do not expect it can bo pabsed in the senate |
